Who Opened That Door?

August 9th, 2009 by under Intervention. No Comments.

When I was growing up in the Pentecostal religion, I heard how I could know God’s will since He would “open” and “close” doors for me. Or we’d hear how if God closed a door, he would open a window.

Other times, I’d hear that Satan opened or closed the door.

Since one always wanted to be in God’s will, it would sometimes become much more complicated than doors and windows opening and closing. It became a literal guessing game. Whodunit?

A prime example would be if you were looking for a new job. There – there’s an open door!! Go through it!! Take the job of your dreams! Care not for tomorrow, simply go through the door! But then the door gets “slammed shut” because your car broke down and you can’t make it to the first interview. Now, is that God closing the door? Or was the enemy closing the door, keeping you from your dream job?

In the dispensation of Grace we learn from our Apostle Paul exactly what God’s will is for each of us.

1 Timothy 2:1-6 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; (2) For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. (3) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; (4) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (5) For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (6) Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

So now we know that God’s will is that every man (and woman) be saved and come to know the knowledge of the truth.

God expects you to be an adult with free will, and to make rational and logical decisions. He doesn’t expect you to view random occurrences (such as your car breaking down) to be signs of His will.

In Him,

Are you saved? Would you like to know where you will spend eternity? I invite you to visit Do You Know Where You Will Spend Eternity? from Florida Grace Bible Berean Church. Please notify me if this link breaks!
